Decorated CraZy TACKz for inspiration

We love to share ideas and inspirations here on the CraZyTACKz4Crafts Blog.  Today I am showing some original ideas we featured with the CraZy TACKz when they were brand new, a couple of years ago.

The projects shown are painted with Acrylic paint. The first layer of decoration are die-cut trees, cut out with the Cricut machine and applied with ModgePodge.

The birds are chipboard shapes from the craft store that are colored with memory papers.  Just trace around the bird onto the wrong side of the paper; cut out, and adhere to the bird.  I used a 1/16" paper punch to pre-punch the hole for the nail end of the CraZy TACK to go into.  Adhere the TACK "stopper" to the bird. Repeat for each.

We featured instructions for making the dimensional paper flowers on a previous post.  If you missed it, just go to: http://crazytackz4crafts.blogspot.com/2014/06/bugz-flowerz-crazy4crafts-tutorial-part.html   or go back a couple of posts on this blog. Try different colors of papers and different sizes.  The CraZy TACKz shown here are Clear and Round from the Orange pack, and colors from the Purple pack.

I found the dress form in the paper mache' area of the craft store.  It makes a fun surface and decorator piece for the CraZy TACKz and for hanging your jewelry, keys, etc.

If you have any questions regarding these designs, just leave us a message here on the blog and we will get back to you.

Hope you got inspired today. If you would like to look at the CraZy TACKz website; just go to the top of the page, next to the picture of TACKz and "click".  There you can find more project sheets to download and get a close-up look at all of our colors and shapes.

Make a useful mixed media Frame with CraZy TACKz

Here is an idea for a dual purpose mixed-media frame!

You will need:

Square  wooden (pine) frame from your favorite craft store.  Some are only $1.
CraZy TACKz, round and clear orange pack
Scrapbook paper
Embellishments:  die-cuts and rub-ons
Ribbons
Needle and thread
craft glue
distress ink, sponge
pencil, scissors

Cut to fit and adhere paper to the front of the frame.  Repeat the paper pattern on the cardboard piece that goes in the middle.  Reattach.

Sponge Distress Ink around the edges for some depth.

Chose a theme and adhere die-cuts to the frame.  The flourishes shown here are rub-ons.

Follow the instructions below to make some ribbon rosettes.  Adhere the glittered CraZy TACKz to the middle of the rosette and push into the soft wood of the frame as shown.

*CraFty Tip:  Use a pliers on each side of the hook and push the stopper in as far as it will go.  Apply some glue to the nail portion of the tackz first to get it to stay in place.

Hang jewelry, keys, ephemera on the hooks as desired.

Ribbon Rosettes:  Thread a needle and sew a running stitch along one long edge of a 10" piece of ribbon.
Pull the threads to gather the ribbon into a rosette.  Whip stitch the edges together to secure.  Make a larger rosette by leaving a larger open circle in the middle. To make a larger flower:  Glue a smaller rosette to the top of the larger one; matching the seams.  Adhere one CraZy TACKz to one ribbon rosette; arrange and attach to the frame.  For the leaves:  Cut a 4" piece of green ribbon.  Make a tight loop, matching the ends. Whip stitch the ends together to secure.  Tuck under an edge of one rosette, adhere.  Repeat for each leaf.

Bugz & Flowerz CraZy4Crafts Tutorial Part 2

Here is Part 2 as promised!  This pictorial tutorial will show you just how to make these flowers that our little ladybug tackz are sitting on.  The flowers take it up a notch if you really want a pretty adornment for a finished craft item or to use on the bulletin board or in the wall.  CraZy TACKz will work with soft wood like pine, but a harder wood can break the  tackz, so don't try to force it.

Supplies

The Distress Ink and sponge are for shading the flower petals.  This technique will add dimension.

Curl the flower petals by wrapping around a pencil.  I hold the pencil with one hand and the flower with the opposite hand then pull the pencil over the petal to help it to curl.

Stack the petals; adhere, matching up the 1/16" holes.

Poke the tackz through the hole in the flower.  Adhere the stopper (ladybug) to the flower.

Below is another picture of the ladybugs from the previous blog.  You can play with different colors.  There isn't a red ladybug in the bunch.  I have made red ones and they are really cute.  They look like the real thing, and I'm not talkin' Coca-Cola.  (Remember that slogan?)

Aren't these pretty?  I love them!

Do you need to find some CraZy Tackz?  Check out the website for a store near you or to find out
how you can order them online.  Just Click on the picture of CraZy TACKz at the top of the page.

Mini project sheets will be available in a PDF to copy and print out.  Enjoy!

Make it a great day!

CraZy TACKz for Bugz and Flowerz - Part I

.

In this pictorial tutorial you will see how easy it is to transform a clear and round CraZy TACKz into a cute, decorative BuG! Who doesn't like Ladybugs? The round shape is great for making bugz in different colors.

Gather some supplies.

1.  Punch out 1/2" circles and punch a 1/16" hole in the middle of each.

2.  Draw a dot for the head, with a line for wings, then add tiny dots.

3.  Sponge some Distress Ink around the edges fora little dimension.

4.  Push the hook through the paper hole and adhere to the top of the CraZy TACKz stopper.  Apply the          Dimensional Medium to the top of the ladybug at the base of the hook.  Push the tack end into some              foam and let dry thoroughly.

Now you have some cute, decorated CraZy TACKz that you can use to "Hook it Up".  What you hook up, is up to you!  These are cute for bulletin boards, for putting in the wall to hang your jewelry, keys, etc.  Visit the website at http://crazytackz.com/  for some more ideas.

Look for the next tutorial....we will bring some EZ & fun flowers!

Printable (J-Peg) Project Sheets for Glittering CraZy TACKz

Copy and paste  into a 8-1/2" x 11" landscape document and Print!
Each page will have four mini project sheets.  Cut apart and hand out.

Design:  Marilyn Gossett Designs

Glitter like CraZy!

Clear and Round CraZy TACKz are great for crafting with and decorating to fit your theme. Glitter is simple to apply and almost instantly turns your tackz into a work of art.

Start with a clear dimensional medium/glue.  I have shown several in the photo below.  A fine glitter works best.  You might like a variety of colors.

You should have a foam disk to stick the glittered tackz into to let them dry.  I like a 6" x 1" thick size the best.  If you are decorating lots of tackz, you may need a larger one.

1.  Gather your Supplies....

2.  Remove the tackz from the package and poke them into the foam.

3.  Here is a better view...

4.  Apply the dimensional medium to the top of the stopper, gripping
the tip of the hook between your thumb and finger.

5.  Now pour the glitter onto the dimensional medium you placed on the stopper.
Make sure you have a tray or paper plate there to catch the excess glitter.

6.  Here is another close-up of adding the glitter.

7.  Return the glittered tackz to the foam disk.  Allow to dry thoroughly.

8.  Enjoy your pretty tackz!
